MIKEY HARLAND

MIkey and Ken Harland Winton Raceway Victoria Australia

Growing up on the banks of Ruapuna Park Raceway in Christchurch, New Zealand, my passion for motorsport was ignited at an early age. My father and I often spent weekends at the local circuit, watching various categories compete. A family tradition soon emerged: choosing our race favorites before the start. My selections were always based on the cars with the most striking designs. After returning home, I would sketch these cars using the programs handed out at the events. It was during these moments that I realized my aspiration to become a designer in the motorsport world.

Career Beginnings with Lamborghini Squadra Corse

My professional journey began with Trofeo Motorsport, the factory-backed Lamborghini Squadra Corse team in Australia. Starting as a Sign Writer and Graphic Designer, I gained exposure to high-level motorsport design. Trofeo Motorsport, as distributors for Stand 21 racewear and Pirelli Motorsport, also provided opportunities for me to expand my expertise into racewear design and product branding.

When Trofeo Motorsport assumed the management of the Australian GT Championship, my role grew further. Alongside my design responsibilities, I served as a category official at prominent events such as the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Bathurst 1000, deepening my connection to the motorsport community.

The Formation of KINTSUGI.FM

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian motorsport scene was significantly impacted, prompting me to seek new creative avenues. This led to the establishment of KINTSUGI.FM and a collaboration with Atlanta-based Chillout Systems. Initially, I designed wraps and liveries for their sponsored teams across the United States. Over time, my role expanded to include web design, social media management, product development, and serving as their official Art Director.

A Global Motorsport Portfolio

Through my work with Chillout Systems, I have built a robust portfolio of clients competing in series such as the NASCAR Youth Series, IMSA, SRO, and Trans-Am, among others. My goal with KINTSUGI.FM is to continually push creative boundaries and expand my portfolio of innovative designs.

Reflecting on this journey, it’s surreal to find myself doing exactly what sparked my interest all those years ago: designing race cars. For that, I am deeply grateful to my father for introducing me to motorsport and nurturing my creativity.
