iRacing Welcomes the BMW M2 CSR: A Personal Milestone in Sim Racing

The next major update from iRacing is set to introduce the BMW M2 CSR, a game-changing addition for Rookie racers. This car, crafted in collaboration with BMW Motorsports, brings a balance of agility and challenge that makes it an ideal entry point for those ready to step up their game. But for me, this release is especially meaningful—it features my design, created for Maj. Chris Walsh, a decorated racer and long-time client.

Chris Walsh: Champion, Leader, and Inspiration

The default livery for the BMW M2 CSR will be the Carras Callus wrap, raced by Chris Walsh during his championship-winning season in TCX Touring Car North America. Chris dominated the series while simultaneously contributing to iRacing’s development of the BMW M2 CSR.

I’ve worked with Chris for years, designing liveries that reflect his unparalleled dedication. As a Major in the US Air Force Special Forces and a professional race driver, his ability to balance two demanding careers is nothing short of inspiring. Watching him push boundaries, both on and off the track, has profoundly influenced me—including my own journey to better fitness.

To see my design, commissioned by Chris, featured in iRacing at this level is an honor I’ll always treasure.

About the BMW M2 CSR

The BMW M2 CSR is a 365hp powerhouse equipped with a Club Sport engine package. Its short wheelbase provides a mix of responsiveness and edginess, making it the perfect progression vehicle for Rookie racers. Positioned between true beginner cars and GT4-level vehicles, the M2 CSR offers a step up in challenge and performance.

Best of all, the car will be available to all iRacers for free as part of the base content, making it accessible for every sim racer to enjoy.

iRacing Adds a BMW M2 Safety Car

In addition to the racecar, iRacing is also introducing an M2 safety car. This addition will appear in series events and be available in AI and Hosted sessions, further expanding the immersion and realism of the sim racing experience.
