LAS VEGAS TRACK DAY
A Dream Realized at Spring Mountain Motor Resort
Motorsport has always been a huge part of my life, but my recent experience at Spring Mountain Motor Resort with Sigier Motorsport took that passion to a whole new level. Team owner Simon Sigier graciously invited me to join the team for an unforgettable track day, and what a day it was.
Meeting the Team and Getting Prepped
The event featured a full team setup, including a state-of-the-art simulator and driver coach Cole Loftsgard, providing invaluable insights into the track and cars. The star attractions of the day were two incredible KTM X-Bows: a GT2 owned by the team and a GTX driven by Kha Phan.
I arrived with team member Brian, who introduced me to the rest of the crew and got me settled in. It was my first time wearing my custom HRX Race Suit paired with fire-resistant underwear, a surreal moment seeing my personal branding on such high-quality gear. To top it off, I was gifted a Pro Touring Cooling Shirt by Chillout Motorsports, designed to connect to the Quantum Pro cooling system installed in the cars.
Given the searing heatwave that day, the cooling system was a lifesaver, keeping me focused during what was undoubtedly one of the most physically demanding experiences of my life.
From Road Atlanta to the GTX
Before this, my track experience was limited to just two days at Road Atlanta with JZILLA Track Days in an NC Miata. Driving the KTM GTX was a whole new level. The raw power and precision of the car were electrifying. Adding to the surreal experience, I was behind the wheel of a car wrapped in a design I had created—a moment I’ll never forget.
A Humbled Driver
On my second push lap, I got caught out by a slight difference between the real track and the simulator. I confidently used the outer curbing to widen my entry, as practiced in the sim, but mounting the raised curb on the real track sent the car into a spin, landing me backward in a sand trap.
Sitting silently as I fumbled with the radio, I managed to call back to Simon with an apology and returned to the pits. It was a humbling moment that taught me a profound respect for the skill required to handle such high-performance cars at their limit.
The Perfect End to a Perfect Day
Despite the mishap, the day ended on a high note. Simon took me out for hot laps in the passenger seat, showing me just how capable the KTM is in the hands of an experienced driver. It was the perfect conclusion to an exhilarating day.
On one of the hottest days I’ve experienced in the USA, I lived out a dream I had nurtured from my home in Melbourne, Australia. To have this moment captured by my talented friend Dylan Quisenberry from DQ Media made it even more special.
Gratitude and Reflection
A massive thank you to Simon Sigier, the team, and everyone who contributed to making this experience possible. From the people to the cars to the incredible technology, it was a day I’ll never forget.
This experience has left me even more inspired to pursue my passions in motorsport design and driving. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come, from sketching race cars as a kid to now living out those dreams in the real world.
